Website, mobile app, or both? Choosing where to start
How to match the right platform to your customers, your budget, and your growth plans.
Many businesses ask for an app when a website would serve them better, and some build a website when an app is what their customers actually need. The right answer depends on how people use your service.
Start with a website when
- People find you through search or social media
- You need to explain your services and collect enquiries
- Your budget needs to cover one product well
- Customers use you occasionally rather than daily
Build an app when
- Customers return often, such as for bookings, orders or tracking
- You need push notifications, offline use, or device features like the camera
- You want a place in the customer’s pocket, not just a link they have to remember
Doing both
Often the best path is a website first, then an app once real customers show what they need. A shared back end means bookings, accounts and data stay in one place whichever way people reach you.
